ATHERTON, Calif. – Cal Maritime took a brief break from conference play Tuesday afternoon to face Menlo, at Wunderlich Field in Atherton, in its penultimate non-conference game of the 2025 season.
Fabian Garcia finished with six saves, Davis Ott recorded half of his team's six shots and two shots on goal — Nicolas Rodriguez, Maxime Jolley and Jose Diaz collectively recorded the other three attempts with Jolley's effort on frame — throughout the afternoon for the Keelhaulers in a game they dropped by a 6-0 score.
Even though they dropped Tuesday's matchup, Thursday's 12 p.m. road game at Simpson is what matters the most this week: Not only is it a return to Cal Pac Conference competition, Cal Maritime can increase its one-game advantage in the standings over the Red Hawks with its desired result.
Not only does men's soccer have a game in hand over all of its league foes — it only played three games versus four for everyone else — its victory over Simpson last month is currently the difference between earning a berth at the Cal Pac's year-end postseason tournament and a premature end to the 2025 campaign.
