CSUM returns home, drops game to D-II Dominican

VALLEJO, Calif. – Cal Maritime started the third quarter on fire when Jaz Novelli and Kai Kraus sank a pair of three-pointers to give the Keelhaulers momentum entering the final 20 minutes of action in Monday's non-conference game against Division-II opponent Dominican.

On CSUM's next possession, Jameelah Pharms also connected from three before Dominican ended the Keelhaulers' 9-0 run more than three minutes after the half started.

Women's basketball's success from three helped it outscore the visiting Penguins, 20-19 in the third quarter to trim its halftime deficit.

But it was just one of those night for the host school throughout the first half since the Keelhaulers could not buy a basket, even though they created solid looks, which helped Dominican exit PEAC Main Gym with a 79-50 victory.

For the first time this season, Cal Maritime will play consecutive games at home when Park Gilbert visits campus for Thursday night's 7 p.m. non-conference matchup — the final home game of 2024.

A busy week for CSUM continues Saturday when it travels to Santa Clara for an exhibition event against the Division-I Broncos, the team's fourth game against a NCAA opponent this year.
