VALLEJO, Calif. — For the first time since November 22, women's basketball will compete on its home court when UC Santa Cruz visits PEAC Main Gym in the team's final Cal Pac Conference tune-up Saturday at 2 p.m. Not only will this give the Keelhaulers their first opportunity to shake off holiday rust — Cal Maritime last played an official game on December 18 — and the final opportunity to incorporate any tweaks before local rival Pacific Union visits campus the following week for each team's league opener.

Forced to practice off campus this week due to U.S. Coast Guard exams taking place inside PEAC Main Gym throughout the week, UC Santa Cruz, a Division-III program, will play its second game of the new year after playing MIT on the second day of the new year.

The Banana Slugs are the Keelhaulers' inaugural opponent of 2026.

Including that result at MIT, UCSC lost its last two games played after winning back-to-back contests. The Slugs will visit Vallejo for the third time in the last four meeting, earning wins earning wins on the Keelhaulers' home court in 2022 and last January — the second of two meetings last season.

In the first head-to-head matchup that took place in November, 2024, Cal Maritime and UCSC needed overtime to determine a victor with the host Slugs leaving KP Arena with a four-point win.

Saturday's meeting is the 18th all-time, Cal Maritime has collected four wins since the inaugural game between the two took place on February 2, 2006, in Vallejo.
