Keelhaulers edged by Pioneers, 4-3

ANGWIN, Calif. – Cal Maritime traveled to Angwin to take on Pacific Union in California Pacific Conference play. The Pioneers defeated the Keelhaulers 4-3.   

In the first half, the Pioneers would score three goals in the first 24 minutes of play. The Pioneers would score their final tally of the half in the 28th minute. The Pioneers led 4-0 at halftime.

In the second half, the Keelhaulers would get on the scoreboard in the 50th minute as Hayden Carter scored to trim the Pioneers' lead to 4-1. In the 82nd minute, the Keelhaulers would score on a Ciara Kelly strike to cut the Pioneers' lead to 4-2. In the 85th minute, Carter would score again to cut the advantage to 4-3. The Keelhaulers would not have another chance for the equalizer, however, and fell 4-3.

Kate McGowan had four saves for the Keelhaulers.

The Keelhaulers will play their final road match of the season against NCAA Division II Menlo in Atherton on Thursday. Kickoff is set for 4 p.m.
