ANGWIN, Calif. – DeAndre Minor led all Keelhaulers with 15 points, on 7 of 10 shooting in Thursday's Cal Pac game at Angwin, California, and was one of four players who finished in double figures against an Antelope Valley squad that entered Covered Wagon atop the league's standings with an undefeated conference record.
By connecting on two of his five field goals from three, Chris Herrera ended his night with 14 points and a season-high four rebounds, Illyaas Rafiq scored 10 or more points for the fourth time in the last six games by recording 12 against UAV and DJ Henry chipped in another 11 in a game the Pioneers won, 102-72, thanks to their strong start by scoring 19 of the game's first 22 points.
Cal Maritime's bench played a key role throughout the night since it was responsible for 45 of the team's points.
That trip to Pacific Union marked the last of six straight games played on the road, due to the preparation and execution of U.S. Coast Guard exams that took place this week.
Waiting for the Keelhaulers as a reward are home games in six of the next nine upcoming contests on the team's schedule; CSUM will enter PEAC Main Gym for Thursday's 7:30 p.m. game against Benedictine Mesa with records of 2-13 overall and 2-6 against Cal Pac opponents.
Antelope Valley will continue its Northern California road trip on Saturday with respective records of 13-2 and 8-0.
