VALLEJO, Calif. – After hosting Pacific Union on Tuesday in its final home game of the season, Cal Maritime will head to Lancaster, California, to face the Antelope Valley Pioneers in the team's lone Cal Pac Conference game of the weekend.
This is also the first of three straight games on the road for the Keelhaulers, a swing that continues with matchups at Park Gilbert and Benedictine Mesa next week.
Two of the league's top shooters, UAV's Arik Nicholas and Cal Maritime junior guard DeAndre Minor will square off against one another when action commences on Saturday. Nicolas leads the conference with his .581 overall field goal percentage, Minor ranks second with his .560 shooting clip.
In addition to holding the Cal Pac's second-highs three-point field goal percentage (.414), junior guard Lucky Hampton strengthened his argument as one of the conference's top all-around players in recent weeks.
Not only has he scored 20 or more points in each of CSUM's last three games, he averaged 23.3 ppg throughout that timespan, shot a combined 24 of 43 overall (.558), 7 of 13 from three (.538) and 15 of 18 at the free throw line (.833).
