PORTLAND – Cal Maritime goalkeeper Nathan Witte finished Saturday's non-conference matchup at Warner Pacific with 18 saves in the first half to keep his team close to the host Knights at halftime, trailing 1-0. But three late WP goals, scored within an eight-minute block of action, was the difference in the Keelhaulers' final game of its season-opening road trip since that one-goal deficit grew to four with a little over 20 minutes left to play in a game the Knights won, 5-0.
Cal Maritime will now return home at 0-1-1 and experience a quick turnaround since its next game, the first at Bodnar Field this season, is set for 5 p.m. on Tuesday versus William Jessup. Saturday's result preserves Warner Pacific's undefeated record since it now won the first five matches played this year.
Noah Anderson earned half of his team's four shots; Ronald Squier recorded one attempt and Nic Kashiwai's strike was on goal.
The first pair of WP goals were scored by Andrew Martinez, Alain Murhala was responsible for each of his team's final three, all scored within a seven-minute timespan.
