Fabian Garcia shines in Thursday’s non-conference finale vs. Stanton

VALLEJO, Calif. – Nevermind the score of Thursday's non-conference finale at Bodnar Field: Even though Stanton Elks left Vallejo with a 2-0 victory, fans in attendance were thrilled by Fabian Garcia's performance in goal.

Cal Maritime's netminder ended the night with 13 saves; of that total, a vast majority were highlight-reel quality, or stops that were made at point-blank range that visibly frustrated the visiting Elks throughout the entire match.

Even though Cal Maritime came inches away from scoring on multiple occasions, it was Garcia's effort that kept the Keelhaulers in the match from start to finish.

The Rohnert Park native's 13 saves are a career high and the third time this season he finished with a double-digit total out of his eight games played this season.

Cal Maritime will return to Bodnar Field for the final game of its season on Sunday when it hosts Cal Pac rival Pacific Union at 11 a.m. Fans are encouraged to arrive no later than 10:30 a.m. to secure their seats for a Senior Day ceremony that is slated to begin at that time to recognize graduating members from the men's and women's program.
