ALISO VIEJO, Calif. – The Keelhaulers wrapped up their two match road trip to Southern California as they took on Soka University in California Pacific Conference play. The Lions defeated the Keelhaulers 2-0.
In the first half, the match was playing at an even pace. The Lions outshot the Keelhaulers 7-6. The Lions would get on the scoreboard in the 42nd minute as Hope Suka scored off a pass from Kenneth Ugalde. Ugalde scored in the 44th minute to extend the Lions' lead to 2-0. The final chance that the Keelhaulers had to score also came in the 44th minute but Jose Diaz's shot went just wide. The Lions led 2-0 at halftime.
In the second half, the match was played mostly in the Lions' offensive zone. The final chance for the Keelhaulers to score came in the 74th minute but Ethan Anderson's header was saved by Lions' goalkeeper Elm Pentinat.
Pentinat got the win for the Lions and Fabian Garcia got the loss for the Keelhaulers. The Lions outshot the Keelhaulers 16-9 and the Lions had a 8-1 advantage in corner kicks.
The Keelhaulers will return home for their next California Pacific Conference match as they take on Simpson University at Bodnar Field on Friday. Kickoff is set for 5 pm.
