Second-half scoring pushes Red Hawks past Keelhaulers

VALLEJO, Calif. – The Keelhaulers returned to Bodnar Field as they continued California Pacific Conference play against Simpson University, The Red Hawks would score a pair of goals in the second half en route to a 2-0 win over the Keelhaulers

In the first half, the match was played primarily in Simpson's offensive zone as the Red Hawks outshot the Keelhaulers 7-1. The lone chance for the Keelhaulers to score came in the 34th minute but Jose Diaz's shot went just over the crossbar. The two teams were tied 0-0 at halftime.

In the second half, the Red Hawks would get on the scoreboard in the 48th minute on a Gio De La Torre tally off a Jesus Montoya assist. The second Red Hawk goal was scored in the 88th minute on an Angelo Dominguez shot after a pass from Bryan Ortiz. The final chance for the Keelhaulers to score came in the 89th minute but Noel Angel's shot was saved by Simpson goalkeeper Eric Canela.

Canela got the win for the Red Hawks and Fabian Garcia got the loss for the Keelhaulers. The Lions outshot the Keelhaulers 14-6 and the Red Hawks had a 5-1 advantage in corner kicks.

The Keelhaulers will start a two match roadtrip on Sunday as they will travel to Angwin to take on Pacific Union College in California Pacific Conference play. Kickoff is set for 1 p.m.
