
Cal Maritime finishes fourth in first offshore race of the season

ANNAPOLIS, Md. – Cal Maritime opened their 2024-25 season as they looked to win their third consecutive – and 11th overall - Shields Trophy. The races for the prestigious trophy took place at Chesapeake Bay in Maryland.
On Saturday, the Keelhaulers finished sixth in the first two races and fifth in the third and fourth races respectively. After the first day of competition, the Keelhaulers were in fifth place in the team competition with 22 points.
On Sunday, the Keelhaulers finished second in the first two races of the day. In the final race of the meet, the Keelhaulers finished fourth.
The Keelhaulers finished fourth in the team competition with 30 points overall. The College of Charleston won the Shields Trophy with 17 points.
The Keelhaulers will travel to Long Beach next weekend to take part in the PCCSC Match Race Championship. The event will take place at Long Beach Yacht Club.
