SANTA BARBARA, Calif. - Sophomore Nick Mueller represented Cal Maritime at the 2024 Pacific Coast Collegiate Sailing Conference Singlehanded Championship in Santa Barbara. Mueller finished second in the nine person field.

Mueller's competition represented five different NCAA Division I institutions – Arizona State, Hawai'i, Stanford, UCSB, and USC.

All 10 races were sailed on Saturday. The races started in 6-8 knots (6-9 miles) per hour winds but the winds increased to 10 knots (12 miles per hour) during the course of competition. The seas were calm with no swell.

Mueller won race No. 7 and finished second in seven other races. He finished third in race No. 8 and fifth in race No. 9. Mueller improved his position from last season as he finished third in the Singlehanded Championship.

Chapman Petersen of Stanford won the championship with 11 points.

Mueller will wait to see if he is selected to represent Cal Maritime at the PCCSC Singlehanded National Championships in St. Petersburg, Florida.
