Cal Maritime wins JV race; finishes fourth in varsity race at Stoney Burke

RICHMOND, Calif. – Cal Maritime continued its campaign at the Stoney Burke Intersectional in Richmond. The Keelhaulers fielded three teams – two junior varsity and one varsity. The junior varsity team '1' won their invitational and the '2' team finished eighth. The varsity team finished fourth.
This competition included 13 schools from the NCAA.
In the JV race, the Keelhaulers '1' won six races of the 13 that took place. The Keelhaulers '1' also did not finish lower than fourth in any individual race that took place. Keelhaulers '2' finished in the top five in four races.
In the varsity race, the Keelhaulers were represented in in division A by sophomore Nicolas Mueller and Gavin Steurwald and in division B by junior Logan Chapman and sophomore Sam Jennings. The Keelhaulers won two races – 4A and 6B. The Keelhaulers had 13 top five finishes in the 18 races that took place.
Keelhaulers '1' finished first in the team competition with 27 points and Keelhaulers '2' finished in eighth place with 119. In the varsity race, the Keelhaulers finished fourth in the team competition with 82 points. USC won the varsity team competition with 55 points.
The next event for the Keelhaulers will be next Saturday and Sunday as they take part in the Top-9 Invite. The event will take place in Redwood City at the Arrillaga Family Rowing and Sailing Center
