
Cal Maritime Finishes Sixth at Top-9 Fall Invite
REDWOOD CITY (10-27) – Cal Maritime made the short commute to Redwood City for Top-9 Fall Invite. The invite took place at Arrillaga Family Rowing and Sailing Center and was hosted by Stanford University.
The Keelhaulers' competition included seven NCAA Division I schools.
The Keelhaulers 'A' team featured sophomore Nick Mueller and Gavin Steurward. The 'B' team featured sophomore Sam Jennings as skipper and junior Logan Chapman and Nicolai Perez as the crew. Chapman did races 1-7 while Perez did races 8-16.
The 'A' team won one race of the 16 that took place. They also finished in the top five in six of the 16. The 'B' team finished in the top ten in three of the 16 races.
Stanford won the team competition with 73 points. The Keelhaulers finished sixth with 320 points.
The Keelhaulers will return to the East Coast next weekend as they vie for the Kennedy Cup. The event will take place in Annapolis, Maryland in the Chesapeake Bay next Saturday and Sunday.
