Sailing secures ninth place in 2025’s inaugural event

VALLEJO, Calif. – In addition to many of the top programs in the nation, Cal Maritime started the new year by visiting Long Beach, California, to compete in the Rose Bowl Regatta, hosted by USC at the US Sailing Center.

While the Keelhaulers showed why they are one of the top sailing programs in the nation throughout most of the event by hanging around the top of the leaderboard, they hit rough waters throughout the final few races to finish ninth overall within the 18-team field.

St. Mary's College of Maryland secured first place overall following the completion of the Rose Bowl's third round (out of six total rounds) and never relinquished that position for the rest of the weekend to win the regatta's championship.

Cal Maritime will return to campus for the start of the semester and return to competition on January 25 in San Diego at the Jeff Simon Memorial Regatta, hosted by UC San Diego.
