VALLEJO, Calif. – Highlighted by a second-place result in the third round of racing by Cal Maritime's B boat, one of five top-five race results that took place throughout the regatta, the Keelhaulers finished eighth overall, one point behind Cal for seventh place, at the PCCSC Mark Healy Open Fleet Race Championship.
In this event hosted by Cal at the Treasure Island Sailing Center in San Francisco, CSUM's final regatta of the 2024-25 season, that B squad earned the final top-five result of the weekend by crossing the line fifth in the eighth race of the weekend.
Cal Maritime's A boat, responsible for the other highlight results of the regatta, finished third, fifth, and third again in its races that took place in the fifth, sixth and eighth rounds.
By virtue of its five bullets and 11 top-five race results, Stanford won the event by three points over UC Santa Barbara and eight points compared to Hawai'i's team score — teams that finished second and third, respectively.
Even though CSUM's dinghy sailors are done for the year, offshore student-athletes will continue training and preparing for the 2025 Transpacific Yacht Race, a biannual offshore competition featuring the top professional crews in the world.
This 2,225-mile competition from San Pedro, California, to Honolulu will commence in early July.
