KLAMATH FALLS, Ore. – Jaz Novelli ended with a team-high 14 points by shooting 50 percent overall — she connected on 5 of 10 shots from the floor and 2 of 4 attempts from three — as 10 of the 11 Keelhaulers who saw action in the final game of the Lithia — Oregon Tech Classic recorded a field goal.
Cal Maritime also shot 67 percent overall, and from three, to nearly match the host school's 23 points scored in the third quarter.
Action that took place in the second quarter ended up being the difference when the Owls, a team receiving votes in the NAIA's latest national poll, outscored the Keelhaulers 33-8 in that period en route to a 102-54 victory.
A season-long road swing will conclude for CSUM on Wednesday when it heads to Lincoln (CA), in the first of two head-to-head matchups this season, with a 1-5 overall record.
Saturday's tournament finale started strong for the Keelhaulers as they connected on 42 percent of their shots to hang close with the Owls. Aiding Oregon Tech's effort was their shooting: OIT just did a better job of connecting on their looks as it's not north of 50 percent in three of the four quarters to earn a positive result.
