VALLEJO, Calif. — Now that conference action is here, it is fair to look back at Cal Maritime's non-conference schedule and appreciate what already took place. Even though multiple games were played against NCAA teams from higher levels, or NAIA teams that were national ranked at the time of respective contests, Cal Maritime's five wins match the combined total of the last three years with 10 Cal Pac Conference games still remaining (in addition to a pair of games against non-conference opponents).

Cal Maritime will enter Thursday's 5:30 p.m. conference opener at PEAC Main Gym riding a three-game win streak — the longest since the February 4-20, 2016, when the Keelhaulers collected five victories in a row and finished the season with eight.

Entering the changeover from women's basketball's non-conference to conference slate, Dylan Fulton is ranked fourth in the league in three-point field goal percentage (.400).

As a team, Cal Maritime is ranked second with a .273 shooting clip from three trailing only one team, Thursday's opponent, UC Merced (.353 3FG pct.).

Fulton is also third in the league averaging 1.0 blocks per game.

Joining Fulton is Jameelah Pharms within the conference's top individual rankings as the latter is fourth with her 2.4 steals per game average.

Aysia Santos and Kai Kraus also sit within the Cal Pac's top 10 with respective 2.8 and 2.7 per-game averages.

The battle for one of four berths at the Cal Pac's year-end postseason tournament starts against a pair of teams that sit ahead of CSUM in the league's standings with one more win each compared to the Keelhaulers' five.

Of UC Merced's six wins, only two were earned on the road against non-NAIA opponent Nobel University and GSAC member Life Pacific. Even though the Bobcats' non-conference slate includes a six-game losing streak, they won their last two games played (against Nobel University and Stanton University).

Two days later, women's basketball will head to Redding to face a Simpson squad that split its 12 non-conference games and lost three of the last four played.

Traveling for a game always gives the road team an advantage, but trips to the James M. Grant Center have paid dividends for the Red Hawks this season since they are a perfect 4-0 at home.

Simpson will open league play on Thursday at Pacific Union before hosting five in a row at home, starting with its clash against Cal Maritime.
