Keelhaulers honor Maya Sortor on Senior Day

VALLEJO, Calif. – It was a bittersweet day at Bodnar Field Saturday afternoon when Cal Maritime hosted UC Merced in its final game of the 2024 season.

Prior to kickoff, the program honored Davis, California native Maya Sortor since she is the team's lone senior graduating this spring.

Once action commenced, the Bobcats truck twice within a 52-second timespan in the first half and extended their lead as the game progressed, one they eventually won by a 12-0 result.

"She's a hardworking defender that never gives up on a play and always puts others first. A true team player, Maya frequently fought through injury to be there on the field for her teammates.," said Bielski. 

"Even with the many hats she wears around campus she was able to stay committed to playing for the team.

"Her sarcasm and quiet sense of humor will be greatly missed. Thank you, Maya for all you have given to the team over the years."
