VALLEJO, Calif. – For the first time since December 8 at Simpson, Cal Maritime will square off against a Cal Pac conference foe when it hits the road for a lengthy road trip that includes stops at Embry-Riddle and La Sierra on Thursday and Saturday, respectively.

When this (approximately) 1,544-mile road swing concludes on Sunday when the Keelhaulers return home, its next pair of games will take the team to Angwin since its road rivalry matchup vs. Pacific Union (Jan. 9) takes place two days before their neutral-site matchup against Antelope Valley.

Men's basketball returns to Cal Pac competition following a lengthy holiday hiatus — per campus policy, no games can take place during finals week — that featured only one event, a December 30 exhibition at Pacific.

In addition to shaking off any holiday rust, CSUM seeks its breakthrough game: Basketball fans witnessed a team that is on the rise and playing its best basketball under first year head coach Colin Johnson. In recent games, the team suffered hard-luck moments that prevented the program from picking up its first win of the season.

The Keelhaulers' first opportunity to return to form is set for Thursday night in Prescott, please note that their game against the Eagles will start at 6:30 p.m. Pacific.

Led by graduate students Everett Perrot and Lunden Taylor, who lead the team in scoring at 10.6 and 10.1 points per game, the Keelhaulers look to win their fifth game in the last six played against the Eagles.

After competing at altitude for its weekend opener — Prescott is 5,319 feet above sea level — men's basketball will end its weekend in Riverside, California (827 feet, in case anyone is curious) against a La Sierra squad that will compete in its first game since December 20 Thursday night vs. Pacific Union.

Unlike CSUM, which only played one game throughout its finals week and holiday break, the Golden Eagles sandwiched a win at Whitter College with losses against Pomona-Pitzer and SAGU-Arizona.

The Keelhaulers are the second of four consecutive teams visiting Alumni Pavilion throughout LSU's upcoming season-long homestand; Saturday's game is an opportunity for CSUM to extend its current 15-game head-to-head win streak — a string of results that started during the 2014-15 season.
