RIVERSIDE, Calif. – Trailing by 22 points with 7:53 remaining in Thursday's Cal Pac Conference game in Riverside, Cal Maritime generated a late-half surge, outscoring host La Sierra 23-8 from that point until the final buzzer in a game that saw the Golden Eagles hang on, survive and escape Alumni Pavilion with a 76-69 victory.
The Keelhaulers will head to Golden West College in Huntington Beach, California, for Saturday's 2 p.m. game at Westcliff seeking a split of its Southern California road trip before returning home that night.
Alex Maze and Lawrence Long each led the Keelhaulers with 11 points, Lucky Hampton ended his evening with a team-high six rebounds.
