VALLEJO, Calif. — Even though there are two games scheduled for the Keelhaulers throughout the final week of the season, with all due respect to Thursday's opponent, Lincoln (CA), Saturday night's 8:30 p.m. matchup against Pacific Union is the most important of the season.

What you need to know about Thursday's game at Lincoln (CA): This is Cal Maritime's non-conference finale, the game will take place on the road at Chabot College (Hayward, California) and Lincoln (CA) will not provide a video stream.

Saturday's regular season finale is going to become an emotional game, for a variety of reasons. Cal Maritime-Pacific Union games are always hard-fought contests since the two are local rivals; CSUM will honor its graduating seniors in a pregame ceremony, fans are encouraged to arrive to PEAC Main Gym and secure their seats by 8:15 p.m.; if the Keelhaulers want to compete in next week's Cal Pac Men's Basketball Tournament, they must win this game since that is the only element of the team's situation it directly controls.

Entering the final week of the season, Cal Maritime, La Sierra and Simpson will compete for the final two berths at the league's postseason tournament. Since the Keelhaulers have played one more game compared to the other two teams, everyone will pay attention to Thursday's conference results on the drive back to Vallejo from Chabot College.

The trio's respective remaining Cal Pac games are:

T-3rd – Simpson
Thursday: at Westcliff
Saturday: at La Sierra

T-3rd – La Sierra
Thursday: UC Merced
Saturday Simpson

5th – Cal Maritime
Saturday: Pacific Union

Since it is hard to know what exact situations need to take place entering the week, due to numerous scenarios at play, this is what Cal Maritime knows:

- The league's playoff picture will become clearer following Thursday night's slate.
- Saturday's game at La Sierra tips at 8:45 p.m. As is the case with Pacific Union, LSU is a Seventh-Day Adventist institution and cannot engage in outside activities until sunset on Saturday when Sabbath (starts Friday at sunset); this is why these two games are the final two on the Cal Pac's schedule.

If needed, league officials will use the following tiebreakers:

- Head-to-head results among tied teams (all three teams split the season series against each other).
- Won-loss record against the other conference teams, in descending order of finish (UC Merced will finish first with Westcliff locked into second place).
- Won-loss record in away conference contests in descending order of finish.
- Fewest aggregate points allowed in games between the tied teams.

Since Cal Maritime dropped both road games against UC Merced and Westcliff, Simpson lost its game in Merced (with the road game at Simpson slated for Thursday) and La Sierra split its road games by beating the Red Hawks, it possesses a slight advantage over SU and CSUM.

With all the factors involved in determining the Cal Pac's final two playoff teams, the Keelhaulers know they can only control the situation it directly faces, which makes Saturday's rivalry game against the Pioneers a must-win opportunity.
