
Keelhaulers finish third at PCCSC Match Racing Championship

LONG BEACH, Calif. – Cal Maritime traveled to Long Beach for the 2024 Pacific Coast Collegiate Sailing Conference Match Racing Championship. The championship took place at Long Beach Yacht Club. The Keelhaulers' competition consisted of four NCAA Division I institutions – Stanford, Cal, Hawai'i and USC.
The Keelhaulers' team of sophomores Nick Mueller and Alice Sandel and freshmen Owen Cuyler and Jeff Ring competed in 10 races – five in each of two round robin sessions.
In the first round robin, the Keelhaulers defeated Cal in flight one and in flight two, the Keelhaulers defeated USC. In the third flight, the Keelhaulers fell to Stanford and in the final flight of the first round robin, flight five, the Keelhaulers lost to Hawai'i
In the second round robin, the Keelhaulers defeated UC-Berkeley in flight six and won over USC in flight seven. In flight nine, Cal Maritime lost to Stanford and the Keelhaulers fell to Hawai'i in flight 10.
Stanford won the championship with eight points.
The Keelhaulers will travel to Santa Barbara for the PCCSC Singlehanded Championship. The championship will take place next Saturday and Sunday at Santa Barbara Harbor.
