
Pharms paces Keelhaulers at Academy of Art

SAN FRANCISCO – Cal Maritime opened a four-game road swing across the bay as it took on NCAA Division II member Academy of Art in San Francisco. The Urban Knights defeated the Keelhaulers, 77-57.
In the first quarter, the Urban Knights would start the game on an 8-0 run capped by a Christy Ojide Boiko tip-in with 7:48 left. The Keelhaulers would come as close as four on two occasions, the second occasion at 14-10 on an Aysia Santos three pointer with 33 seconds left in the quarter. The Urban Knights led 16-10 after the first quarter.
In the second quarter, the Urban Knights would continue to extend their lead. Cal Maritime would come as close as two, at 19-17, on a Kai Kraus free throw with 5:57 left in the half. The Urban Knights would then go on a 14-2 run, capped by a Harper Felch free throw, to take a 31-19 lead with 2:35 left in the half. The Urban Knights led 37-27 at halftime
In the third quarter, the Keelhaulers would as close as seven on two occasions, the second occasion at 39-32 on an Addison Alsbury jumper with 9:03 left in the quarter. From that point, the Urban Knights would go on a 16-2 run, capped by a Keira Mitchell layup with 3:19 left in the quarter, to take a 55-34 lead with 3:19 left in the quarter. The Urban Knights led 55-36 at the end of the third quarter.
In the fourth quarter, the Urban Knights would continue to expand their advantage. The Keelhaulers would come as close as 13 on two occasions; the second occasion at 58-45 on a Jameelah Pharms layup with 7:15 left in the game. The Urban Knights would gain their largest lead of the ballgame at 24 on two occasions, the second occasion at 75-51 on a Mitchell tip-in with 1:32 left.
Pharms had a game high 12 points for the Keelhaulers. Three players had 11 points for the Urban Knights. Santos had 11 and Dylan Fulton had 10 points for the Keelhaulers in the loss.
Cal Maritime will travel to Oregon for the Lithia-Oregon Tech Classic, the next game for the Keelhaulers will be Friday as they take on Southern Oregon in Klamath Falls at 1 p.m.
