High-scoring affair takes place in Keelhaulers’ non-conference finale

VALLEJO, Calif. – Fans attending Tuesday's non-conference game inside PEAC Main Gym, the last game against an opponent outside the California Pacific Conference this season, were treated to a high-octane contest that saw Cal Maritime and Lincoln (CA) score 89 points combined in the first half alone.

Entering the second quarter, CSUM shot 63 percent overall and hit half of its attempts from three; the Keelhaulers continued their hot shooting in the second quarter by hitting 41 percent of their shots from the floor to enter the locker room up by three.

The fourth quarter saw women's basketball outscore the visiting Oaklanders by two, but it was a challenging third quarter that ultimately served as the difference between sweeping the season series and splitting it since Lincoln (CA) ended that 10-minutes block of action with a plus-13 scoring margin, which helped it defeat CSUM by a 79-71 score.

In addition to Suraya Lloyd's team-high 10 rebounds, a new single-game career high, and three CSUM players who scored double figures, Emily Newton shined on both ends of the court and positively impacted the game for her team.

Not only did she finish with five points and a career-high six rebounds, she was singlehandedly responsible for numerous Lincoln (CA) turnovers by drawing a handful of charges and out-hustling the Oaklanders on defense.

Dylan Fulton led the Keelhaulers with 17 points, Aysia Santos added another 15 and Alanis Sulivan chipped in another 10.

Led by Santos and Sulivan, CSUM's bench scored more than three times compared to their counterparts (44-13).

Even though Saturday's season finale vs. Pacific Union starts at 6:30 p.m., fans are encouraged to find their seats inside PEAC Main Gym by 6:15 p.m. to help Cal Maritime honor its graduating student-athletes during a pregame Senior Night ceremon
