
Five top 25 individual finishes lead to third place at Cal Pac Championship
FRESNO, Calif. – In a freshman-dominated finish for Cal Maritime, all five of its runners who scored points ended the day within the first 25 runners to cross the line as the Keelhaulers finished third at the Cal Pac Men's Championship.
Today's result matches the program's highest finish at the league's postseason meet in the school's recorded history.
First-year runner Krossley Kirkpatrick led the Keelhaulers' contingent by finishing the 8k course in 29:03.7, teammate Michael Lapinski finished 18th shortly thereafter with a time of 30:00.9.
Tyler Jung and Patrick Smith and Patrick Smith, another pair of freshmen, ended the morning 19th and 25th, respectively, with times of 30:06.1 and 30:36.5. Ending his morning in 23rd place and finishing between his first-year teammates was Andrew Scannell (30:19.0).
UC Merced hosted this annual event at Woodward Park in Fresno, California, one that saw the host Bobcats capture the team title. Soka's Andre Souza secured the individual crown.
